Matt and I went camping last Friday and Saturday. We decided to go Friday morning and came back Saturday afternoon so it wasn't long but it was still fun to get out. Our campsite was about an hour away in Island Park at Coffeepot Rapids and I think Matt was so excited to try outsome of his camping things.
This is Matt trying to get some charcoal for dinner started. It was raining little at this point not to mention our matches wouldn't light so that was fun. We ended up borrowing someone else's matches. An interesting beginning to our night.
This is the view by our fire pit and tent. It was very nice.
This is me freezing and watching our tin foil dinners. You wouldn't think I would be so cold it being July, but I was despite my shirt, two sweaters and jacket. The campsite hosts also came during this time to tell us that we were in bear country and not leave any food out or in our tents. Needless to say I was slightly paranoid thereafter but fortunately I don't have any stories about this except the ones I made up in my head that night. I would look up from the fire into the dark and wonder "did I just see reflective eyes?" Haha. I had to tell myself to quit it.
I like camping because I'm hungry when mealtimes come around, I sleep well because I've been running around all day, it feels nice to be warm in my sleeping bag when it's cold outside and I often wake up earlier than usual (even without an alarm!!). After having said that, I did not take the picture above, Matt did. He was up around 6 and made breakfast and explored for a little while. I know, I thought it was amazing too. Haha!
We had a little while after we had breakfast and cleaned up before we had to check out so we went along a little trail by the river.
So it was a short, laid back trip. We'll probably go backpacking in a few weeks so I'm sure I'll have more pictures.
Happy 4th everyone!
